Every month Gray releases the latest student and employer demand trends in higher education.  Here are a few of the trends from December that we released in January:

  • Health Care, IT, Education, and Management dominate job postings.
  • Inquiry growth for graduate programs has begun to decline.
  • External inquiries continued to drop.
  • Overall Google program search volumes increased.
  • Inquiries and conversions for online programs are growing.

2016 November GrayReports - Student and Employer Demand Trends

Every month Gray releases the latest student and employer demand trends in higher education.  Here are a few of the trends from November that we released in December:

  • External (or PPL) inquiries for higher education have dropped an average of 15% in 2016.
  • Year-to-date, inquiries for online programs are flat year-over-year.
  • After a drop in October, inquiries for online programs grew 5%.
  • Two of the five cities with the highest number of job postings grew year-over-year in 2016.
  • Nationally, the most requested hard skill for jobs requiring a degree was quality assurance.

2016 October GrayReports - Student and Employer Demand Trends

Every month Gray releases the latest student and employer demand trends in higher education.  Here are a few of the trends from October that we released in November:

  • Overall student demand for higher education has decreased an average of 9% year-over-year in 2016.
  • Year-to-date, student demand for online programs is flat year-over-year.
  • In the past 3 months, all new job postings requiring a degree grew year-over-year.
  • Once again, in the past 3 months, Registered Nursing had the most new job postings in the country.
  • The fastest growing hard skills are generally in computer science or allied health.

Every month Gray releases the latest student and employer demand trends in higher education.  Here are a few of the trends from September that we released in October:

  • Student inquiries have decreased an average of 8% year-over-year in 2016.
  • Qualified inquiries have been converting at a slower rate than in prior years.
  • Inquiries for on-campus higher education programs dropped 17% year-over-year.
  • New job postings have decreased an average of 7% year-over-year in 2016.
  • In the last 3 months, Registered Nursing had the most new job postings in the country.

2016 August GrayReports - Student and Employer Demand Trends

Every month Gray releases the latest student and employer demand trends in higher education.  Here are a few of the trends from August that we released in September:

  • Overall inquiry volumes fell less than 1%.
  • In Philadelphia, programs with the fastest growing job postings are ALL in health care and health sciences.
  • Surprisingly, Certificate programs outperformed the higher level degrees in the most recent quarter.
  • Student demand for on-campus higher education programs dropped 17% year-over-year.
  • The ten largest programs produced 22% of the total completions in 2015.
  • Distance education completions have increased 24% since 2013.

  • Inquiry volumes fell 10% but branded and online grew.
  • Conversions of April inquiries were down 22% YoY.
  • Average inquiry prices dropped below $45.
  • Higher degree levels continued to outperform.
  • Social Media continues to be a strong channel.

Every month Gray releases the latest student and employer demand trends in higher education.  Here are a few of the trends from May that we released in June:

  • Overall inquiry volumes fell 10%.
    • On-Campus inquiries were down 11%.
  • However, we saw some bright spots this month.
    • Branded inquiries grew 4%
    • Online inquiries grew 3%
  • Conversions of February inquiries were down 3% YoY.
  • Average price reached its lowest level since 2014.
  • Higher degree levels continue to outperform; Associate's programs lag.

  • Overall inquiry volumes for higher education fell 12% year-over-year.
  • The price of an external inquiry increased 3% year-over-year.
  • Programs in healthcare and education had the fastest job growth.
  • Conversion rates for inquiries for online programs are returning to 2014 levels.
  • Three northeast markets were among the five fastest growing cities  in April.

Every month Gray releases the latest student and employer demand trends in higher education.  Here are a few of the trends from March that we released in April:

  • Overall inquiry volumes for higher education fell another 10%.
  • External inquiries decreased in March for the second consecutive year.
  • Student Demand for on-campus higher education programs dropped 7% year-over-year.
  • Quarterly inquiries for higher-level degrees continued to grow.
  • 85% of BLS's growth projections are off by 50% or more.
    • New Job Postings in 2012 were a better predictor.

  • Despite the leap year, overall student demand for higher education fell another 7%.
  • The price of an external inquiry for higher education continued to rise.
  • Student demand for on-campus higher education programs dropped 17% year-over-year.
  • Once again, the biggest cities were down year-over-year.
  • Conversions for on-campus academic programs continued to decline–down 17% in November.
